Throughout the years, the program has given nods to everyone from R. Kelly to Kanye West to Billy Corgan and everyone else that has called Chicago home.</p> <p>The 28th annual Chicago Music Awards ceremony will be held Sunday, January 18th at 7:00 p.m. The event will be honoring not only artists, but President Elect, Barack Obama as well.</p> <p>Part of the event’s proceeds will go into The Bernie Mac Foundation of Sarcoidosis in an attempt to bring attention to “Health Awareness” in the entertainment industry.</p> <p><span id="more-203"></span>The ceremony will be preceded by a 6:00 p.m. reception at Park West.</p> <p>Nominees have been announced and are as follows:</p> <ul> <li> Celebrated Chicago rock group Wilco is nominated for four awards</li> </ul> <ul> <li>R.Kelly, Kanye West, the Smashing Pumpkins and the Chicago Afrobeat Project are all nominated for three awards</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Shekinah Glory, Dayna Malow, Lupe Fiasco, Twista, Funkadesi, P.R.ism, Carl Brown, Ben One, Kwiet Storm, Teresa Griffin and Fandanguero are all leading nominees as well.</li> </ul> <p>Recipients for Lifetime Achievement Awards are going to be given for:</p> <ul> <li>Corky Siegel and Jim Schwall of the Siegel-Schwall Blues Band</li> </ul> <ul> <li>The Notations</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Kelan Phil Cochran</li> </ul> <ul> <li> and Pastor Maceo Woods of Christian Tabernacle Church</li> </ul> <p>Angela Winbush will be awarded the Producer’s Award of Excellence and she will perform at the ceremony as well.</p> <p>If you would like to order advanced tickets to the Chicago Music Awards, they are on sale for $50, or $75 for V.I.P and are available through Ticketmaster.
