Holiday Traveling Tips
Christmas is a few days away and the traveling season is upon us. Whether your transportation is by land, air or maybe even by sea, New West Realty has some helpful tips that are useful to every traveler.
- First and foremost, be realistic about your traveling plan. Let’s face the facts — it is nearly impossible to see everyone during the holidays. So make sure that you don’t over exert yourself trying to visit too many relatives. It is a busy time of year!
- Be prepared for all situations. As the expression goes, “You’re better safe than sorry”. If you have time beforehand, run through some worst-case scenarios — you miss your flight, you lose your identification while on vacation, your car breaks down far from home — and work out a backup plan. If you know what to do when bad luck hits, it will result in a less stressful situation. Also remember, If you plan on taking a pricey vacation, don’t rule out travel insurance.
- Plan ahead. By planning ahead you can remember to do all the necessary tasks (getting an oil change, finding cheap airfare, changing tires for winter conditions, etc.) associated with traveling.
- Don’t over pack. Whether driving or flying, too much luggage can prove to be a struggle. Don’t add stress by trying to fit a plethora of luggage in a car, or have security at the airport have to sift through your belongings. Make sure to pack what you need and nothing more. Remember…it is the time for giving; you may come home with more than you left with.
- Finally, learn from your past and plan for the future. Remember all the traveling you have done and all the bumps in the road you may have experienced. Then use what you experience this year to plan for your next trip. Like everything else, make it a learning experience!
- Above all, have fun! The holidays can be the best time of the year!
With these simple tips you are one step closer to a happy holiday season!
